Mesquite ISD has selected SchoolMessenger, a leading parental notification company, to provide a quick alert messaging service for parents and staff.

SchoolMessenger will enhance the school district's, and individual schools', ability to communicate regularly with parents and staff 24 hours a days, in multiple languages, using voice messages, email, and text messaging.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How do I sign up for SchoolMessenger?
    Parents and guardians do not need to sign up for SchoolMessenger if they have provided current contact information to their child's school.

    Parents may log on to the SchoolMessenger Contact Manager to select how they would like to be contacted (phone, e-mail and text message) for different types of messages. Parents should also review their contact information here to ensure it is accurate. Read the Instructions for Activating an Account in the RELATED LINKS above.

  2. How do I update my contact information?
    If your contact information has recently changed, please contact your child's school to update. It is important that your child's school has  up-to-date contact information in order to reach you regarding your child.

  3. What type of messages will I receive from SchoolMessenger?
    SchoolMessenger will be used to send messages about weather closures, campus safety alerts, emergencies, etc.. The school district administration can send critical messages to the entire district, a school or select groups of parents/guardians.

  4. Is SchoolMessenger secure?
    Your student's information is stored on a secure server and all personal data is sent in an encrypted format. Please remember, just like with any application, if you give your password to anyone, including your child, your contact information can be changed and messages can be diverted or discontinued.

  5. A recorded message from the school was delivered to my home phone, I said "hello" and no message played. What should I do?
    Log on to your SchoolMessenger account to see a list of all messages sent to your home and review the message. SchoolMessenger can work like a mailbox, giving you a place to review messages you may have missed.

  6. I have forgotten my password for the SchoolMessenger Contact Manager, what do I do?
    Log on to the SchoolMessenger Contact Manager and click the link that says "Forgot your password." Follow the prompts to retrieve your password.

  7. Can School Messenger send text (SMS) messages to my mobile phone?
    Yes, but you must opt in to receive text messages.  You may opt in using the
    SchoolMessenger Contact Manager (see #1).

    If MISD has your mobile phone number as part of your child’s contact information, you will soon receive a text message inviting you to opt in to receive future text messages from the system.  If you want to receive text messages from School Messenger, simply reply “yes” to the invitation message and hit send.  You can unsubscribe at any time by sending the message “stop” to 68453.

    Please note that although the district does not charge you for this service, the district will not pay for text message charges that may be incurred by you for sending or receiving text messages.  Check with your wireless carrier for possible charges.
